LucasArts does a whole slab of things in an utterly unique way, whether it's painting a completely obscure scene or injecting steroids into the creativity sector of their brain while in the planning stages of making a quality video game. One can always tell the cartoony feel of a game from their company. While that entails one-of-a-kind production value, it also means hours of fun through story lines and addictive gameplay with lovable characters.

In Lucidity, that main goal isn't present.

Fun.

This rather bare game asks you to place objects and obstacles in Sofi's pathway while she scrolls to the right side of the screen. Yes, this is a 2D video game. And while many gaming companies can still pull it off, LucasArts, well, fails.

Unfortunately, Lucidity's fresh construction, paper-like graphics and silly sound effects aren't used to their advantage to advance the title overall. The gaming world loves simple concepts, especially in a downloadable package such as Lucidity, but when the objects you can use grow mundane and objectives feel repeated and more like a task than a fun challenge, something's wrong.

Video games are an escape. Not a full-time job. Well, maybe not for everybody, but you shouldn't want to beat a level or mission just to get it over with. Within Lucidity, at times, that's what you'll experience. Sofi is cute and determined to climb ladders, oscillating fans and other such objects, but sadly, you won't be able to match her intensity and perseverance. What a let down.

Boost your health by snagging lightning bugs throughout the air and if you collect enough of them, you might get a little surprise.

Overall, this game is fun for a short period of time. The replay value and addiction factor simply aren't present. More game modes, multiplayer options and "stuff" could be added to give Lucidity a little more bang for your bucks, especially in this economy.

Pros: Uniquely awesome graphics, comical sound effects

Cons: Gameplay is boring, no replay value, potential multiplayer would have helped

GamePro Score: 2.5
