Square Enix hasn’t always been Square Enix. Back in the day the famous company known for amazing RPG’s was called by Squaresoft. Many remember that any time a game was released by these guys, that it would more than likely be an instant classic. What started this trend? Well, some have been fans since the NES/SNES days and others were fans after playing what many consider the best RPG of all time, Final Fantasy VII. It’s been brought back in digital form and fans as well as newcomers should embrace and relive the adventures this classic has to offer.

Final Fantasy VII's centers on mercenary Cloud Strife who joins with several others to stop the mega corporation Shin-Ra, which is draining the life of the planet to use as an energy source. As the story progresses, the situation escalates and Cloud and his allies must battle the game's main antagonist, Sephiroth. That’s the basic premise but this game offers so much more in content. Tons of different magic to cast, characters to meet, insane boss battle and secrets galore all wrap up this package known as FFVII.
PSN has added FFVII to its roster of PlayStation games. So why should you get it? Well, despite being one of the most sought after PSX games on the market, it is usually associated with a very high price tag. Some FFVII discs have been sold for up to $100 dollars or more. Thankfully PSN doesn’t feel money hungry and is offering this great title for low the price of $9.99. While that satisfies the hardcore market, you may be asking what if I am new to this game. Well those of you who somehow missed out are getting two major things, a wonderful story full of lush characters to engross you and entice you to keep on playing, as well as a chance to relive history. You’re getting to see the spark of how many of today’s great RPG’s became what they are today. 3D characters in multiple environments weren’t heard of in many RPG’s back in the day, but FFVII sparked a new breed of RPG which spread well up into the 13th chapter we are all wanting today.
Nothing special has really been done to the game for this rerelease, but nothing needed to be done, it’s still a wonderful title despite being almost 12 years old. One of great features that have been added is portability. Besides playing FFVII on your PSP, you are also able to transfer the game to your PSP and take it on the go. Then if you want to go back to your PS3 you can transfer your save files and play on both back and forth.
To sum it all up, the PSN version of FFVII just gives you so much and conquers many first. And with the ability to put it on your PSP and take it anywhere, fans and newcomers surely will not be disappointed with this purchase. This is must have for the story, game play mechanics and nostalgia factor of what was the kick start for RPG’s of the future.
