The Games We Play is a weekly feature about what has been going on in our gaming lives. Terry's out of commission this week, so the three of us will shoulder the "Games We Play" load. Leave us your games journal in the comments.
Ian: Strange week of gaming for me, as I continued to play games that are not on the public radar. Most of my time was spent with Sega Superstars Tennis on the 360. I bought it awhile back for $10-$15 and it actually has some interesting aspects to it. There are tons of minigames and they are suprisingly challenging. Some do not even evolve tennis, instead resembling Geometry Wars.
In the sprit of the NHL playoffs, I went back to 3 on 3 NHL Arcade and NHL 08. Had a great time beating my friends in both of these great hockey games.
I realize that a truly am a sports gamer at heart as I have yet to go back to some great FPS. Right now, the most anticipated game on my radar is The Bigs 2, though I am looking forward to inFamous after reading what Andrew had to say about this highly anticipated open world action game.
Sean: For the past week, I've been dreaming about octopus, western conference championship berths and Red Wings hockey. As a Wings nut from Detroit, that obsession carried over to my video game habits. Appropriately, I played Wings/Ducks matchups on NHL 09 over.. and over ..and over (you get the idea). And last night, Ozzie and crew took care of business against the dirty Ducks (mainly Pronger) -- just like what happened in every single one of my simulated games. NHL 09 though? Unbelievable.
And for our younger readers, it would be in your best interest to check out Wallace & Gromit's Last Resort PC game. Politely ask your mother for $34.95 (or take her credit card out of her purse) and hit the TellTale Games site. It's worth your time. OK, but don't actually rob your mothers.
Andrew: Like everyone else, I am preparing for E3, so I thought I would take a break from gaming and delve into something else for a few weeks. I checked out some new movies I wanted to pick up and watch, Squidbillies Vol. 2 and the X-Men Vol. 1-2 Animated Series. With my Best Buy preorder, I received a code for the inFamous demo and I haven’t put it down yet. This game is that good. It has fantastic visuals and gameplay that can’t be beat. I have played the demo probably 10 times now and always find something new to latch onto and kill enemies. I can’t wait until the full game is out at the end of May!
I did squeeze in some theatre time with Star Trek, four times to be exact. I had to see it with friends, in IMAX with my father and finally in DLP. I loved this movie and I am a huge Trek fan. It was a thrill ride with non-stop action and some sweet visuals, especially in IMAX and in DLP.
