In a couple of weeks Sony Online Entertainment, creators of EverQuest and Star Wars Galaxies, is releasing a new MMORPG - Free Realms. In order to get ready for its PC debut (it'll be out on the PS3 later this year), SOE has given us 250 beta codes to hand out.
If you're not familiar with Free Realms, let me give you the skinny. Its a virtual world where you can do whatever. Gamers create an avatar, choose a job (15 are available at launch, ranging from ninjas to pet trainers), then get cracking. Like other MMORPG's you can battle with friends, but if that's not your flavor there are plenty of mini-games, races, and other activities to do. From what I've seen its also surprisingly kid friendly. Free Realms will be available to download and play for free, but there are optional subscriptions and microtransactions if you're interested.
So how do you get a beta code? Easy, just write a comment on this post and email me at tterrones@gamepro.com. If you want multiple codes for your friends, no problem, I'll send you up to 5. But wait, there's more! As a bonus (I'm starting to feel like the Sham Wow pitch man) the first 10 gamers who post a comment and email me for a beta key are entered in a double bonus contest. The WHOPR selected double bonus winner also gets a free download code for the recently released XBLA game "Flock".
You better act fast, unlike most contests I'm giving out the beta codes as I get emails for them. The "Flock" winner will be announced on Sunday as usual. Good luck!
