That's right, this is a PREview. Usually we don't have time for previews here at GPArcade castle, but recently I received an early build of next week's first Days of Arcade release and I thought I'd check it out.

My brother, daughter and I gathered around the 360 to give "Hasbro Family Game Night" a whirl. We were only able to play 3 of the 7 games on the preview disc (Battleship, Connect Four, Scrabble), but what we saw so far looked promising.

Hit the jump for our first impressions.

Highs

- Easy to pick up and play: The control scheme is family friendly. My daughter is only 8-years old, but since most games only used two or three buttons at most, she was able to pick up any game and play quickly.

- Modified game modes: All of Hasbro's well known titles have the standard gameplay everyone has grown up with, but HFGN also offers some new twists. In Battleship for example you can play a game called Salvo where you launch up to 5 bombs at a time instead of one. Each game has its own twists on the original gameplay.

- Pleasing game presentation: With upbeat music, and Mr. Potato Head guiding you through all the games, kids and adults alike will find HFGN a fun place to visit. And for those of us who really like to get into the game, HFGN also lets you play as your 360 avatar.

- Full Xbox Live support: After watching my daughter and I play Connect Four and Battleship together, my brother was already planning on how he could beat me online. Sadly for him, much like when we play "Scene It! Box Office Smash", he's going to be getting his Mr. Potato Head hat handed to him.

Lows

- You want me to pay how much?:  This is easily the biggest deterrent to investing in HFGN. Instead of being sold as a bundle, each game is sold individually...for 800MS Points ($10). While I appreciate not having to pay for games I don't want (Scrabble), ten clams for a title I already own as a board game (Connect Four) is a bit much.

- Limited Game Library: Next week HFGN is launching with Scrabble, Battleship, Yahtzee, and Connect Four, with more titles coming out in the next few months. Sorry!, Sorry! Sliders, and Boggle look to be up next, but why not go big from the start? How about Risk, Jenga or even Lincoln Logs? Who doesn't love Lincoln Logs?
