Pricing of downloadable games has been an issue ever since downloadable games first existed on the original XBOX. When the XBOX 360 was first released, $5 and $10 became the standard. As the system has evolved, prices have shifted in an upward direction. Unfortunately for Death Tank, its $15 price tag becomes the greatest thorn in its side.
Death Tank, a remake of a 1996 action strategy game, offers a variety of gameplay against A.I. opponents, local buddies or players around the world.
Each player controls a tank and takes turns attempting to blow your opponent to smithereens. Since the action is somewhat standard, a variety of power-ups enter the equation to attempt to mix up gameplay. Power-ups like machine guns, shield and jumping abilities are available to purchase in between games.
Single player options are sparse, with the 20 campaign rounds lasting less than half an hour. Up to eight player online multiplayer is available but with a lacking online community and little depth, it does justice a $15 purchase.
Death Tank is a well made game but does not offer any mind blowing features. At the current overpriced price point, Death Tank is tough to recommend.
