Puzzle games seem to be all the rage right now. You have titles like Puzzle quest and Planet Puzzle League which you can play on your DS. But for the Wii you were kind of left in the dust. The guys over at Empty Clip Studios have your back. Taking a page from the Lumines franchise, Groovin Blocks utilizes blocks with three different colors to which you can move about and work in different ways. Then when you get three of the same color in a row then it goes away and gives points. As an added bonus if you time it to work with the music you get an added bonus on top of that.
While this is a very simple game, it does have its share of ups and downs. On the plus side the interface is very nice and well done. It sports a nice color palette with bright colors and very nice designs. The music is also a plus. It's a quirky nice melody with some good beats that don't make you cringe after hearing it for the fifth time. But this game isn't perfect. While the game is a good idea the overall game play gets very repetitive very quickly and won't hold your interest for hours on end. While that's not a major problem it can make or break the purchase. Featuring up to four player co-op or competitively multiplayer this is a solid release for WiiWare. While its nothing new it does provide some enjoyment to those looking for a new puzzle title and have had enough with the other ones on the market.
