Welcome to the Kodak Theater, home of the Academy Awards and Nintendo's E3 presser. How Donald Trump managed to get a star right outside the theater is beyond me. Never underestimate the hypnotic effects of a crazy haircut. Nintendo was pimping itself pretty hard, giving a lot of stats on its sales numbers and pointing proudly to their widening demographic. Here are the highlights of the Nintendo Presser, in picture form.
Shaun White came out and demonstrated, oddly enough, Shaun White Snowboarding, due out by the end of the year, using the Wii Balance Board. Or at least I think it was Shaun White, from a distance he looks a bit like Carrot Top.
The most exciting news of the presser was the arrival of GTA: Chinatown Wars for the Wii. Set in present day Liberty City, you'll get to play it this holiday. Unfortunately they didn't show a video or do a live demo. I want to know how I can jack a car using the Wiimote.
Nintendo showed off their "We have more female gamers than you" statistics. It looks like those commercials with Liv Tyler are paying off.
Miyamoto (second from the right) rocking the cowbell with his All Star Band while playing the new Wii Music. The Wii Balance Board was once again in play, this time as part of a drum set. Its set for a holiday release.
Reggie Fils-Aime totally pwned noob Cammie Dunaway in Sword Play, a mini-game in Wii Sports Resort, the sequel to Wii Sports that uses the new Wii MotionPlus Accessory. Look for it next spring.
Animal Crossing: City Folk comes out for the Wii at the end of the year. You can talk to your friends in the game using the Wii Speak microphone, a seperate peripheral that will sell for $29.99. No word yet on what other games it can be used with.
